MODULE 01

How to draw a croissant

The first module of this portfolio is about the orthographic projection drawings and axonometric drawing.

The first page of the module shows the photos of one top view, two elevations and three scanned sections of the original croissant with the annotation of scale and dimension.

Page two is the orthographic projection drawing of the croissant. This explores the techniques of tracing, sketching, hatching and shading which I did not learn before. I tried to trace the photos as accurate as I can and searched some tricks of shading to finish this module. Furthermore, I learned some basics of handling the relationship between brightness and darkness in this part.

The last page represents the axonometric drawings of the module which is the most challenging part of module 1. Axonometric drawing is an important and basic technique that a designer needs to master. This sort of technique will be frequently used in the following modules as well. the greatest difficulty of axonometric drawing is when the grids overlapping each other, it becomes very hard to find the exact point that I need to connect.

In all, I learned a lot from this module and really enjoyed the process of drawing.
