This module is about the definition and application of perspective. An Old Quad was designed according to a story in the book Invisible Cities.

Thin City: Zenobia is a city stands on pilings and set on dry terrain. the first thing I decided to do is to imitate these pilings by copying some columns and put them under the quads to make it looks like construction which is lifted up. The majority of the story of this city is describing the features of the buildings and the elements you can find around the city. So I spend more on imitating almost every detail related to the story such as stairways, sidewalks, barrels, fishing poles, etc.

The story also mentions Zenobia's citizens' vision of a happy life. They think that living in a city just like Zenobia is enough to bring happiness. In my point of view, Zenobia is probably not a preferable city to live for people who are not inhabitants of this city, but people who live in Zenobia are satisfied with this city. Based on this starting point, I put some characters look leisure, they stroll and talk to each other.

A red perspective wash was used to express the poor environment of the city, and the blue wash shows the citizens' satisfaction.

There's no social hierarchy and gap of wealth; life here is easy and comfortable. However, although they are living up high, they are frogs in well with a narrow view and limited outlook.

The contrast is not between people but the inhabitants' opinion of a happy life and the real environment.

This module is more time-consuming than I expected, and it is painful to understand the task and the techniques of Rhino, Illustrator, and Photoshop used to make model and add notations are relatively complex. This module is a great challenge, and the price I pay for progress.
